Numbers per Tomart's 5th Edition price guide
Micro Hot Wheels were introduced by Mattel in 1989 to compete with Galoob Micro Machines. They are quite interesting becuse of the many types and the detail construction on such small cars. They did not sell well so Mattel only made them for 2 years. They were mostly a reduced scale of standard Hot Wheels but there were some unique castings not available in the standard line.
Below are listed the various types of Micro Hot Wheels.
The first were Micro Color Racers in a 4 pack. They changed colors just like the regular Color Racers and also have lost some of their changing properties through the years.
Next came Chroma Racers again in 4 packs. These had chrome finishes with pale colors of blue, pink, gold and silver.
Micro Park 'N Plates were just like the regular ones except for size. They also had the plastic cubes with colored license plates.
For some reason Mattel used the name Mini Light Racers for micro cars that had small batteries and a button on the top and white head lights and red tail lights that lit when the button was pressed. They came in 2 packs.
The term Mini was also used for the Mini Race 'N Show sets that included 2 cars plus a paper diorama and a plastic accessory.
Mini Formula Racers were a line of 3 pack cars where most had no tampos but had mini real rider type tires. They also had a serial number stamped on their base. They made an unusual claim that "No two body style/color/number combinations are alike!" I guess that means that the serial numbers were not unique but would not be used with the same body and color. Each pack of 3 cars also included a patch.
Also offered where California Custom Hot Watches that were Micro Hot Wheels with a digital clock in the windshield. The package included a plastic watch band that held the car. The car could be removed. There were 2 buttons on the top of the car for setting the time.
The Micro Color Racers Big Rigger was an auto hauler truck with 2 cars. Both the cars and the truck cab changed colors.
Finally there was a Micro Color Racers Speed Blaster set that included 2 cars and a launcher fired the cars in a drag race.
There were also small fighter aircraft introduced in the micro line called Micro Air Defenders. They were made of plastic and had color changing properties. They came with 6 airplanes and plastic sticks to hold the planes when they were dipped into warm or cold water.

Illustrated below are the watch on the left, the Race 'N Show and a 4 pack of the Color Racers in the middle and on the right is another Race 'N Show. In the forground are an orange Camaro watch and a metallic red Ferrari Testarossa Light Speeder. The bright red Ferrari is Formula Racer with the micro version of Real Riders. The Blazer 4x4 is a Chroma model. The Cobras show the size difference between the Micro Hot Wheel and the regular line.
